Submission: Around the kitchen

OK - So sorry this is late.  RL has got in the way of this assignment.  But after several abortive attempts I have realised that I don't have a photogenic kitchen.  So I pressed someone else's into service.  This still isn't exactly what I wanted. I wanted to get someone in the picture doing something - but couldn't coerce her!

Anyway here is my A-round in the kitchen submission.  It's also a self portrait if you look closely

Assignment: Around the Kitchen

For this assignment you will be shooting in your kitchen. This is a nice broad topic, anything that is in the kitchen is fair game. The submission deadline will be November 12.

Self Portrait

Better late than never. I had a short stay in the hospital and this has been a long time coming. My apologies to my fellow posters here.

This wasn't what I was after either, but what I was aiming for didn't really work. In the end I decided to take my inspiration from old movie stills - they tend to use quite dramatic lighting, be quite high contrast images and be fairly moody. They also loved to use props, in my case my new retro wallpaper!

not what I had envisioned when I set this project - I'd had a different idea entirely - but hours of combing flickr looking at self portraits gave me this idea.  Also hides my bent tooth!  Bonus.
A little early because I'm not around tomorrow for the deadline.

New assignment! - Self

Assignment:  Take a self portrait of yourself that you are happy to show to others!  Use studio-lights or flash if at all possible - or at least do something creative with the light.  And just pretend that a friend has asked you to take a portrait of them, so you want to give the best photo back of the subject - its just the subject this time is you.

Rules: I'm hoping for a traditional portrait shot where you will be recognisable (mostly) so no backs of heads or complete silhouettes.  But so that we can be creative if you want lets set a boundary that at least one eye must be visible in the picture.

Deadline: End of day 28 June.
New Deadline: End of day 12 July (two weeks - to allow Aaron to celebrate 4th July without worrying! )

Kate gave me the idea for this when we were trying to find some new people to join, so lets try it.

Colours

I wanted to take some photos of bluebells but am a bit bored with the standard bluebell wood shot, so tried something a bit different. This is a zoom burst on a slow shutter speed. I also took some spinning around - think people thought I was a bit mad!

This is straight from the camera and cropped. I may try this shot later on with studio lights and some HDR techniques. This was a fun challenge. I took way too many shots of crayons!

So many different ideas for this - and so many different versions of this shot. I'll stick with this one I think.

New Assignment - Color

Color. This assignment ends on May 6, 2011. The assignment is very broad but I think it will be fun creatively.

So it's as simple as a Dandelion - but when you look closely its still amazing...

This was the ONLY flower that I found growing. I found it funny that the dandelion was rather nice looking and that in a weeks time I would begin my battle with mowing them down.

These flowers are in my garden, although I don't know what they are. Wanted to do something with very shallow depth of field and something 'pretty'! I had planned to do just a macro of the head, but couldn't get macro enough.
